Bylaws

ARTICLE I: THE CLUB
     SECTION 1:
          The club shall be known as the “USS CORSAIR”
     SECTION 2:
          The USS CORSAIR, shall be a full and active chapter of STARFLEET, The International Star Trek Fan Association.
ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP
     SECTION 1:
          No standard club dues will be charged. All new members will show proof of STARFLEET membership within three months of joining the USS CORSAIR.
     SECTION 2:
          All renewing members shall proof of renewal of STARFLEET membership within two months of renewal date.
     SECTION 3:
          Failure to renew STARFLEET membership will result in forfeiture of membership in the USS CORSAIR.
     SECTION 4:
          The USS CORSAIR is an Equal Opportunity Organization. The Command Staff reserves the right to refuse membership on any grounds barring those of race, religion, sex, sexual preference, or physical challenge.
     SECTION 5:
          Violation of the law (civil or club) can result in the immediate forfeit of membership.
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP MATERIALS
     SECTION 1:
          All new members shall receive a Membership Package ; this shall include rank and section assignments; full membership roster (if available); copies of club manual (if available), and By-laws; and any for of chapter newsletters, flyers, and notices (if available).
ARTICLE IV: MEETINGS
     SECTION 1:
          General membership meetings shall be held monthly. Members should be notified by the second week of each month as to meeting date, time and location.
     SECTION 2:
          Command Staff meetings will be held at the convenience of the Command Staff as time permits.
     SECTION 3:
          Other special meetings can be called upon only by the Chapter Chairperson with fair warning to the membership or members needed for the special meeting.
ARTICLE V: RANK
     SECTION 1:
          The USS CORSAIR recognizes all Enlisted, Officer and Flag ranks, both Naval and Ground Forces that are acknowledged by STARFLEET International as stated in the STARFLEET International Membership Handbook.
     SECTION 2:
          Promotions shall be awarded for accumulation of points earned for specific achievements. The Command Staff shall establish modify, and publish, as needed the points total required for promotion of rank.
     SECTION 3:
          The Records Officer shall be responsible for identifying and maintaining a record of the points earned by each member.
     SECTION 4:
          Any member transferring to the USS CORSAIR from another STARFLEET, International chapter shall retain their previous rank and earn the minimum number of points allotted that rank upon presentation of proof of having earned the rank through legitimate means.
ARTICLE VI: DISCIPLINE
     SECTION 1:
          All disciplinary actions will be handled on an individual basis. The decision of the Command Staff is final.
     SECTION 2:
          Any member in disagreement with disciplinary actions taken against them may appeal the decision. The order of appeals is Chapter Chairperson, STARFLEET Regional Coordinator, STARFLEET Chief of Operations, and STARFLEET Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VII: REFUSAL OF MEMBERSHIP
     SECTION 1:

     SECTION 2:
          Violation of the law (civil or Starfleet) shall result in the immediate forfeit of membership.
ARTICLE VIII: MISCELLANEOUS
     SECTION 1:
          These bylaws may be amended by a majority vote of the Command Staff.
     SECTION 2:
          The fan club, USS CORSAIR, will not be liable for injuries incurred by persons attending club meetings or events.
     SECTION 3:
          Only the Chapter Chairperson can affix the designation as a “USS Corsair Event” to any gathering.  Members, both General and/or Command Staff, may not represent the club without prior written approval from the Chapter Chairperson.
     SECTION 4:
          Neither these by-laws, nor any club description, website content, minutes nor other club reports, activities or published material shall be construed to permit, promote or condone any activity illegal under applicable federal, state or local laws .
